What should I do if I am having problems with my 2007 bmw 550l and the dealer won't fix the problems?

Im very frustrated and need your help w/ 2 problems.About mid July I noticed the 1st problem with the power seats. The heat in both all of a sudden go on.Its happened several times and the dealer said they found no problems cause the heated seat light never comes on but it gets red hot so much that bare skin feels like its burning. To please me they replaced the switch for the 2nd time but they won't do anything else now because they say they can't find anything.I told them to disconnect the swtich until they find the problem. The second problem is with the navigation system. When Im driving the screen goes black and if the radio is on everything electronic shuts off for a few seconds. They had the car for a week and found nothing but 2 days after I got it back theproblem was back. The dealer said they updated the computer or something but I still have the problem. They said they can do nothing. Who can I contact? The manager at the dealer is a jerk.BMW cust svc is a joke. What else???

The first thing you need to do is visit another dealer. Make sure you save all paperwork on this issue and record everything. It sounds like you are very close to having a "Lemon" if they can not fix the problem on the third try within the first year of ownership. BMW will do anything they can to avoid this as it looks very bad for them and as Hyundai does, they will let the issue ride out for some time and replace something else while fixing the real problem without reporting it so that it is not recorded as a lemon.

If the dealer does not respond and your problems are not resolved, contact your local lemon law website. Each state has their own lemon laws so do your research. You may also want to write your local congressman.

BMW is usually good with their customer service so I am surprised to hear this but nonetheless, as I have seen more recently and ever increasing in frequency are tales about the horrible reliability and quality of BMW's.
Reply:you should probaby go to a auto shop like pep boys, or something like that, and have them check out the problem.

(also tell them what the dealer has done to the car)

hope this helps.

Reply:Here is what you should do, first take your car to the dealer and tell them that you want something done or you are going to take legal action becuase you are under warranty. If they refuse to do anything then you should demand that they take the car back and refund the money for it because you are a dissatisfied customer and are disgusted with the lack of qaulity that comes from Germany. If this does not work, then I recommend that you hire a lawyer to have a chat with the corporate office of BMW and this will get you something im sure. Good luck.
Reply:Write BMW N/A, you can find them easily. Submit copies of all your records and write down as best as you can recall how you were treated and what was told to you by the mechanic and the dealership. That should get the ball rolling.

This is good to know, b/c I have on order a 335i convertable but I would like a 550 just as much. Thanks and good luck to you.
