2 day old newborn has bubble on inside of his lip??

I am exclusively breastfeeding (hes only had 1.5oz of formula total) and he's been doing good on the breast but he's developed a small skin colored bubble on his lower inside of the lip actually there are 2 but the second is smaller.

Is this normal? (We've been discharged from the hospital already).

These “sucking blisters” are usual in a baby who’ s breastfeeding well. It won’t hurt him and it won’t hurt you. Congratulations, it means you’re doing things right! It will soon fade as breastfeeding continues.
Reply:Friction bubble - on bottle fed babies you see it mostly on the center of the lower lip but because breastfed babies take the nipple differently it is usually on the inside of the lip. Unless it breaks open, bleeds, becomes infected, gets bigger than about a quarter inch across or starts to interfere with him eating then there's nothing you can do and nothing to worry about. He just has very tender "skin" in that area and until it toughens up may be prone to these small blisters.
Reply:yeah it is normal for breast fed babys to get those blisters. they have to suck alot harder to get the milk from your breast. than if they are sucking from a bottle.
Reply:Does he have a dummy? It's possible its from the bottle, My daughter got that from the bottle, I got advised to put a little bit of vaseline on it. I shouldn't worry it doesn't hurt him. I got discharged the day after I gave birth but they wanted me to go home the day I gave birth but I told them I would rather stay the night. Speak to your midwife about it when she comes just to put your mind at rest
