Metal skeleton vs Oak or Elm or Birch tree?

Lets say you have a skeleton thats equal to high grade steel (no adamantium here)

your ligaments , cartilage and tendons are up to the task and your skin is not quite kevlar equivalant but close

You dont have claws or anything like that

you start punching away at one of these trees , assuming average human stregnth how long until your hand becomes mangled or the tree has signifigant damage ?

same siutation this time you have 4 times the average stregnth of a normal human (able to lift 400 KG's ) but your not musclebound or slow .

same situation this time with the enhanced strenght and the abilty to punch 5 times a second ( you can do this " burst fire punch "6 times every 12 seconds you will rapidly fatigue in a minutes time but can recoupe endurance w/i 12 sec of rest to unleash another barrage )

(FOR those of you familiar with Hero or Champions i am basing the situation around a stregnth 20 character with autofire linked to str)

I'd say you could go on pounding on Oak for days - steel would be fine, kevlar would be wearing significantly.

Elm gets a bit pulpy after a few hours and for a 12" diameter tree I'd saay you've got 6 to 12 hours ahead of you before wearing through the trunk

Birch is highly variable depending on the amount of miosture it grows in. A creek bed tree would go pretty quickly, but in drier conditions it can be almost as tough as oak.

Strength won't help much since it is the speed of the blow and mass of the "arm" that determines the damage.

Speed is very effective but the oak is just not going to give unless you have some type of edge (blade, axe etc.)
