Why are white people so afraid of having a black leader?

Im a Obama fan. I was discussing this with a good friend and was dumb founded at the stupidity coming from his mouth. He was like I cant believe that you are going to vote for a black person in office. He then went on to "explain" to me how horrible this country would become if we had a black president. THESE ARE HIS WORDS " He will like create like affirmitive action #2, the white man will become second class citizens. He will take away our jobs and houses. If this country is ever dumb enough to vote for a women or minority then Im leaving before they can destroy it. This is our country how could you vote for someone who is black" END QUOTE. I was dumbfounded. I would expect this to come from a redneck but not from him. He tried to belittle me and call me a traitor. I was raised that there is no skin color. I guess he was not. Are there alot more people like him? How do you argue against such stupidity? Why are some white people so afraid of African Americans?

You'd be surprised at how many closet racists there are. Once again,, I say that 'race' doesn't exist. We all have the same skin, some just have more colour than others. Is it bad to have a black president? He could do better than the almighty Bush. He's 'white', isn't he? Yet look at the state of the country.

Ok, maybe they think we'll treat them how they've always treated us, thats why they'r afraid maybe.
Reply:I just want to know what would happen if Obama were really 100% black instead of mixed, whether whites would change their mind about him or not. It seems like some people don't consider him a black candidate (though I do).
Reply:It's because they think that he might support reparations for slavery.Black leaders usually only care about black people.

Reply:I'm almost 70 years old and I dont know one white person who is afraid of a black person. I wanted Colin Powell to run for president and was very disappointed when he decided not to join the race. It's people like you who put race relations in a bad light. Why not work toward getting along with everyone than looking for the one stupid person who espouses racism?
Reply:The majority of whites may believe that a black president might harbor some pet projects that would possibly be mostly 'black projects'. Although I have to admit, I would not like a president with that kind of agenda, I am sincerely in favor of a president of color such as Colin Powell and Alan Keyes, or a female president, such as Hillary Clinton (whom I believe will win the next presidential election)

Reply:I'm not. I try not to judge politicians by color, sex, or religion, though I am excited about having a black man and a woman in the top ranks in the Democratic race. I'd just like to see more diversity. No matter how liberal a white man is, he doesn't know what it's like to live as a woman or racial minority in the U.S. *whispers* Obama is kinda cute, too!

I'm black, and I honestly don't care who is elected president as long as they do a good job. IF they had a candidate that was neon green, I would vote for him if he could prove he would do a good job!
